Join us as we officially kick off our America 250 / Hibbing 133 Community Celebration this Wednesday, July 1, with a full day of free, family-friendly activities at City Hall!

Be there at 11 a.m. for "The Rising of the Icons," our Partner Program and Official Display Activation, as we unveil a larger-than-life illuminated wildlife display making its first appearance in northeastern Minnesota. The display, made possible through partnerships with the Minnesota Zoo , the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation and the Hibbing Foundation.

Then stick around and enjoy food trucks, tie-dye at the library, kids activities, historical exhibits, City Hall tours, government in action during the City Council meeting, and cap off the evening with an Americana concert by the Hibbing City Band.

This celebration marks the official launch of Hibbing's observance of America's 250th Anniversary while also celebrating 133 years of our community's history.

Bring your family, bring a lawn chair, and spend the day celebrating our nation's story and our hometown's legacy.

We are at the Vic Power Soccer Fields for their youth soccer day. 10-2:30. And, no, we can’t control the weather. Good news, every day is an ice cream kind of day! I personally would go with Pirates Bounty, Chochoholic, or Brownie S’more on a day like today!

🌧️ **Hibbing on Howard Art Night Cancelled Tonight**

Due to the forecasted rain and changing weather conditions, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight's Hibbing on Howard Art Night.

Because so much of tonight's event involves artwork, crafts, and hands-on projects, we don't want participants' creations, supplies, or displays to be damaged by the weather.

We know many of you were looking forward to a fun evening of creativity and community, and we're disappointed too. Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the experience and safety of our artists, vendors, and attendees. We will parter art night with another Hibbing on Howard event this summer!

Re-upping this because I have been thinking about Roy a lot as we begin our 6th ICT season.

Today, I was given another reminder of the magic that Roy started in our community over 12 years ago with the Ice Cream Truck.

I was at Greenhaven Elementary in Hibbing, serving all of their students and staff, before Greenhaven permanently closes its doors in about a week.

Towards the end of serving around 300 people, someone came up to the truck, with a wad full of cash, and asked to pay for the entire bill. He had no affiliation with the school, a community member wanting to do something nice. I honestly don’t know who he is, and that isn’t the point.

Building community, one scoop at a time was always the point. Roy is watching, and smiling.

Thank you to the magical person out there. It was a really cool moment.
