WHAT HAPPENED TO THE “7 RESTAURANTS” COMING TO DOWNTOWN HEMET?

On April 11, Simon Chu and Pastor Brian Hawkins held their “Harvesting Hemet” gathering promoting their plans for downtown Hemet.

Brian’s own Facebook promotion teased “7 Downtown Hemet Buildings” and told the public they were getting a behind-the-scenes look at what was supposedly coming next for downtown.

Fast-forward just five months.

Yesterday, Brian Hawkins posted that the approximately 6,500-square-foot turnkey pub and restaurant at 130 E. Kimball Avenue is FOR SALE — complete with the commercial kitchen, equipment, seating for 105 and a Type 47 liquor license.

So I think Hemet residents deserve a simple update:

What happened?

In April, the message was about opening and revitalizing these downtown locations. Now, one of these restaurant properties is being marketed for sale before the year is even over.

What is the current status of the other properties and restaurant plans that were presented to the public?

A lot of promises have been made about the future of Downtown Hemet. Five months later, it seems like a fair time to start asking what actually happened.

From “7 locations” to “FOR SALE” in five months.

The public deserves transparency.
