We work at every stage of the supply chain — from farm to roaster to bar — with the twin goals of quality and responsibility driving us at every step. Our barista team members represent the vital last step in this complex process: preparing and serving exceptional coffee to our loyal FGC customers.

We provide a positive, supportive, and respectful work environment that is also fast-paced and focused on professional and friendly service. While previous coffee experience is not required, it will help to be coffee curious – a genuine interest in learning about and working with quality coffee is essential. We will provide comprehensive certified training that has created pathways to successful specialty coffee careers for many of our employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Commitment to preparing and serving the highest quality coffee

· Uphold FGC’s hospitality code of professionalism, kindness, respect, and enthusiasm

· Have a comprehensive knowledge on all FGC coffees and menu items

· Cash Handling/Point of sale Operation

· Take customer orders and be attentive to customer needs

· Always be punctual

· Promote and maintain respect and support for all your co-workers

· Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines

· Follow the FGC policies as stated in the employee handbook

· Flying Goat Coffee Brand Ambassador

REQUIREMENTS

· Retail or customer service experience preferred but not necessary

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Must be positive, friendly, and approachable

· Well-organized and detail oriented

· Ability to appreciate and work well with a diverse group of customers and co-workers

· Ability to learn quickly and work well with a team

· Logical and methodical approach to problem solving

· Must be 18 years or older

· Availability one weekend day is preferred

· Ability to obtain a CA food handlers certificate

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Managing Partner (Phil Anacker) and the Director of Wholesale (Drew Thompson) the Production Associate will support Flying Goat Coffee’s operations through all the facets of order fulfillment. A successful candidate has a strong work ethic, is detail oriented, proactive, has excellent communication skills and enjoys physical work.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work as part of fast-paced team to fulfill wholesale and retail coffee orders accurately and efficiently.
• Operate and maintain the weigh-and fill-machine, band sealer, scales, and grinders.
• Up to three times per week, this position requires loading, driving, and delivering regional orders to our wholesale customers throughout Sonoma County.
• Communicate with team members on a regular basis to ensure accurate fulfillment and production.
• Show initiative, present a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and take direction.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

• Follow direction
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Attention-to-detail
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Valid and clean California Driver’s License
• Comfortable operating a 20ft commercial van

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

• Familiarity with fulfillment, shipping, receiving, and general warehouse work
• Coffee knowledge a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical tasks described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and read. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift. The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing up to 75 pounds.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

The hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand

COMPENSATION

$18/hr+ depending on experience

Paid vacation and health benefits available at 30 hours per week
