Our day started off as a bit of a shock when a fire consumed our neighboring store within minutes, at around 9:30am. Luckily, those of us who were in the building were able to make it out on time and no one from either store was hurt. Given the circumstances, the damages to our store were minimal, but we will be closed for at least the next few days to repair the dropped ceiling in our dining room and fix electrical work, as our gas & electricity completely stopped working as well.

We are truly saddened to see this incident unfold onto our neighbor, especially as we’ve witnessed them spending months of genuine passion and effort to remodel and get the mart open for business in the past year.

We’ve spoken to the owner, and it’s safe to say that everyone is under a great deal of shock. Please show your support to them as they navigate this unforeseen time.

We will provide updates on our store’s repairs and when we will be able to open again. Red Chili San Jose is still open with regular business hours. Thank you all for your understanding. 🙏

BUN BO HUE

New signature Vietnamese noodle soup ~
Our flavorful lemongrass beef broth is made entirely from scratch (with lots of love ofc) and is even better with a few dollops of our in-house Sate sauce, best described as a fragrant lemongrass chili oil. It comes with beef shank, pork roll, pork hock, and typically enjoyed with sliced cabbage, bean sprouts and a squeeze of lime.

We’re excited for you all to try our version of this Huế specialty!

We’ve been a little quiet lately but that’s just because we’re cooking new things up in the kitchen for you all. After 21 years of opening our doors, we’re excited to introduce our version of the Vietnamese classic, BUN BO HUE. Paired with our Sate sauce made in-house, it’ll leave you writing a one-star review to us for not having this on our menu sooner.

Now that tariff rates have officially increased, we are anticipating a deep hit as a Thai & Vietnamese restaurant. Tariffs went up ~20% for imported goods from Thailand and Vietnam, which is where we source a majority of our ingredients, sauces, and seasonings. Many other small businesses are being affected as well, and we will see what this does to the vibrantly ethnic Bay Area restaurant scene in the future.

Until then, we will do what we can for as long as we can, to provide delicious high-quality comfort food at an affordable price. Starting today, we'll be running a deal during our slower days for families and friends that still want to eat good food without breaking the bank 😉

Starting at $60 (before tax) for a meal that feeds 4-5 people. We're not sure how long we can have this up for, but for now, stop by and grab a tasty lunch/dinner for the family. Dine-in or takeout. If you are in the area or just stopping by, we would love to have you!
