I mean, it is pretty cool… an iconic Hayward must-do!

Visiting Hayward? You can climb inside the world’s largest musky and stand inside its mouth.

Known as the Big Musky, this enormous fish is the centerpiece of the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame. It stretches 143 feet, stands four and a half stories tall and takes up approximately half a city block.

Visitors enter the giant fish and climb to an observation deck inside its open jaw. The mouth can hold around 20 people and overlooks Lake Hayward and the museum grounds. People have even reportedly gotten married inside it.

The Big Musky was hand sculpted from concrete, steel and fiberglass and sits above an 88,000 gallon pond. The Hall of Fame was founded in 1960, with its museum buildings constructed during the 1970s.

The giant fish may grab your attention, but the collection surrounding it is just as massive. The four building museum complex contains more than 50,000 vintage fishing artifacts, approximately 1,000 antique boat motors and more than 300 mounted fish.

The entire seven acre property is dedicated to preserving freshwater fishing history and recognizing anglers who have made lasting contributions to the sport.

WOW what an awesome return! We are so thankful for all of our customers 💙 It was such a busy last few days, and there were a few hiccups along the way (including one of our food delivery being a few hours late and we were running out of things haha)… we are grateful for your patience and your support for our family business. We love seeing you and serving our Northwoods Best!

A few reminders-
We do not take reservations.

We have space set aside for large groups, but there are many moments this time of year where there are multiple large groups that show up very close to each other and it may take some time before you can be seated. Please be patient with our staff who try their very best to accommodate everyone. We also have a policy that we will not seat your party until everyone has arrived- this helps the flow of our service immensely and ensures everyone in your party is served in a timely manner.
