It is bittersweet that we announce our retirement & closing of Athineon, Original Greek Kitchen. On December 31st, 2021.

Where the spices and love of mama's home cooking was prepared just for you. What started out from the walkways of Athens, the allies of Chicago to the streets of San Francisco and our adorable location in Berkeley, and now here in Hayward, the heart of the Bay Area!

We want to thank all of our wonderful guests and employees for supporting us and loving our food along with our one of kind signature dishes.

We are extremely humbled that so many embraced our restaurant and that we were able to offer you all the love of our cuisine. An accomplishment of which we can all be proud of, but could not have done it without all of you.

Hello everyone. Here at Athineon, Home of the Greek Gyros and the birth of the one and only original Spartan Sandwich.

We wanted to notify to all of our great customers who have been eaten here at Athineon since 2009, that the Berkeley location is now closed. And will be moving location.

Don’t worry, we will be opening a new location soon.

It's a long way from Athens and it cannot hold a candle to Chicago's Greektown, but the East Bay has its share of small gyro and souvlaki spots, and some stars among them.
