Suzanne Crowson's mother, Carolyn Wigley, attended the funeral today of Gerald Young at the Alabama National Cemetery at Montevallo. Young, a Navy veteran, was a regular at The Restaurant at Campbells' Field, and a close friend of Carolyn's brother, Fred Campbell.

While we were there, we visited the graves of a few other friends and family members. Dave Randolph, an Air Force veteran, was the resident poet at the restaurant, where he sat at his place at the counter near the door and recited his funny verses. Jerry Lynn Henson was a friend of Carolyn's family. We also visited the grave of my uncle, Gary White. Carolyn placed a small American flag at each grave.

This is the original "Riffie" of Riffie's Cabin, Riffie Campbell and his children. He is holding baby Carolyn, with little Fred standing beside him. The Campbell family cabin once stood where we plan to have a consignment gallery of artwork and artisan wares.

We are operating Riffie's Cabin online while the restaurant is temporarily closed during the pandemic. We are primarily selling quarantine masks that are hand-made by Suzanne Crowson right now, but we plan to add more items to our gallery and inventory. Please Like and share the page! Suzanne has sewn more than 700 masks so far. Adult masks are now one-size-fits all, and a child size will be available. Each has a tulle-mesh pocket as a liner, to accommodate a filter. Suz is hard at work filling orders for her quarantine masks. She is a retired RN, and she has a couple of clever innovations in her design. It has a pocket for a filter that you can replace as needed, and she recommends using the material that comes in virus-rated air conditioner filters for the inserts. The liner for the pocket is made of tulle fabric to make breathing easier. If she runs out of elastic, some masks might be constructed the old-fashioned way with tie strings, like she used to wear as a nurse! She can make small for kids, medium or large for adults. They are $5 each, which helps support our family while the restaurant is closed during the quarantine. Venmo or PayPal [email protected].

The new T-shirts arrived from Bryan's new TeePublic shop! The fabric is very soft, and it is a light weight cloth that will be comfortable in summer heat. The colors are bright, as you can see!
