🏆 HARTSELLE’S "THE MARKET 2 GO" EARNS STATE, LOCAL RECOGNITION

HARTSELLE — A locally owned Hartselle eatery is adding some new accolades to its résumé.

TheMarket2Go has been recognized in the 2026 Best of Alabama awards, earning Best of Alabama Regional honors in the American Cuisine Restaurants category. The statewide results from Guide to Alabama list the Hartselle restaurant among six regional honorees in the category.

The Market 2 Go has also received recognition closer to home, being selected in the Decatur Daily’s 2026 Best of the Best awards — giving the Hartselle business both regional and statewide recognition this year.

Located at 2211-C Highway 31 SW in Hartselle, The Market 2 Go combines a lunch restaurant with grab-and-go meals. Its offerings include hot lunches as well as refrigerated and frozen prepared meals for customers looking for something to take home. Guide to Alabama highlights favorites including chicken salad, poulet and strawberry pretzel salad.

The business grew from owner and chef Connie Brechtel’s years in catering and food service. According to The Market 2 Go’s history, Brechtel began developing prepared freezer meals while working a traditional 9-to-5 job and realizing how difficult it could be for working families to get home-cooked meals on the table. That idea eventually developed into Prepmeals2go and later The Market 2 Go in Hartselle.

Brechtel’s roots in the local food industry stretch back decades, including restaurant, catering and kitchen-management experience throughout Morgan County and surrounding communities. The Market 2 Go remains a family-operated business, with members of the Brechtel family involved in its various food ventures.

For Hartselle, the recognition puts another locally owned restaurant on a larger stage — while giving local diners another reason to celebrate a hometown business.
