This week, we’re saying farewell to Chef .fitzgerald as she leaves Magpie to begin a new chapter of her own.

Rachel has been with us from the very beginning, helping shape not only the food we served, but who we are.

With her extraordinary talent and kind soul, she brought a warmth and humanity to the kitchen that is all too rare. Through her food, she nourished our community in the truest sense of the word. She introduced us to new flavors and delighted us each season with new menus. Her soups were legendary, her creativity boundless, and the siren song of her weekly specials called to us day after day.

Behind the scenes, she filled the kitchen with laughter and music, often singing while she worked. She led with care, gentleness, and consistency. She taught, encouraged, problem-solved, collaborated, and somehow always found a way to make even the longest days feel a little lighter.

Most importantly, Rachel became a dear friend to all of us. Her impact reaches far beyond the dishes she created. It lives on in the people she mentored, the guests she welcomed so warmly, and the culture she helped build here.

Rachel, we are deeply grateful for the past six years—for your talent, your laughter, your friendship, and the heart you poured into Magpie. Thank you for helping make this place what it is. We wish you every success and happiness in this next adventure, and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.

We will forever be your biggest fans. ❤️

Soup season but make it summery! 🍉🍅🌞 We have a beautiful watermelon and tomato cold gazpacho on the lunch menu this week and next, topped with basil oil, mint, and Aleppo pepper and served with a mint-goat cheese toast.
