It has truly been an honor to call Harrisonburg home while I started my business and my family!

As I reflect on all the memories of our space and our restaurant, I am a little sentimental today. The food truck has been sold to Massanutten Resort, and a good friend has purchased my assets and taken over our former restaurant space. Be on the lookout for something new and exciting in the downtown dining scene!

So what's next for me?

I'll be continuing cooking classes with a new business model, AND I'm offering consultation services for small businesses who are looking for insights and experience developing concepts, developing menus, getting started on the path to business ownership, or tightening up existing processes. I'll also be promoting Valley businesses and events! If you're interested in creating content with me, let's chat!

When will classes be available again?

I'm starting a new LLC for classes while assisting with the transition of existing catering commitments with the new owner. I have commitments through the beginning of June, but I am more than happy to discuss private experiences until I can get the web portal back up and running. Our pastry/dessert team has one last special for this weekend, while supplies last. Behold the chocolate citrus tart filled with rich chocolate ganache in a. Orange citrus crust and torched meringue.

Saturday 2/21/26 will be our last day of service. Next week I will be scheduling a bunch of classes for everyone who bought gift certificates over the holidays. I am so sorry for the delay in getting more classes posted but I hope you understand that there is a lot involved with winding down and selling my business. Please keep your eyes on our social media while new accounts for me, chef Mikey, are shared for you to continue following my journey.

We love you Harrisonburg. You've kicked our butts with love and support this month, and we can't be more grateful for that. Although this chapter ends, I'm sure you haven't seen the last of me!

We will be CLOSED FOR LUNCH 2/14 so we can reprep as much as we can for you. You have shown us an overwhelming amount of support as we end this chapter and we are both grateful and exhausted. Being closed tomorrow will ensure we have the menu items in stock when you arrive. We apologize for the inconvenience but hope you understand that winding down a business comes with its own quirks and challenges.

We are so sorry if you are trying to place orders through DoorDash.

DoorDash is canceling numerous orders for us today and we're not sure why. As you can see, we have no option to confirm or cancel your orders with our POS set up, we can only control whether the ordering portal is open at all or not.

Use Toast online ordering and come pickup your orders. It's nicer to see your pretty faces anyway.

If you have loved our Korean style hot dogs, this is your call to before we're gone!

Today's Hot bar is a build your own hot dog bar! We think Friday lunch hot bar will be the last hot bar offered while we wind down operations and manage remaining inventory. We've loved offering our hot bar, but it's time for us to focus on dine in guests, large takeout orders, and made to order food while we're still serving you. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope you all have enjoyed our hot bar offerings since November!

Writing this caption is one of the hardest things I've ever done...

I love Mash*ta, I love what we've accomplished, but it's time to pass the torch. We will not be renewing our business license at the end of the month, so our final day for formal service is February 28th.

There are a lot of reasons that influenced my decision, but my desire to pursue something new and to prioritize my family and kids requires a significant change. There is a ton of potential for our concept and our space, but I'll leave that opportunity for the next passionate individual.

So what's next?
Even though formal service will end on February 28th, I will continue to maintain the restaurant space through March in order to host a bunch of different cooking classes. For all those who purchased gift certificates over the holidays. I will also continue to offer private cooking classes in private residences and other locations, though contact information and class registration may be subject to change. I encourage you to continue following this account for updates and information about how to follow me on my next journey, and any information related to the last few weeks of service. We also have a handful of events that we need to transfer to a new owner, cancel, or create clever solutions to maintain our commitments. We are doing our best to wind down the business in a way that feels kind and respectful to existing clients, supporters, and staff, but there is no easy solution.

I am also discussing the transfer of the business to another interested party, though we are currently unsure whether Mash*ta will continue or if the concept will change. Any other interested parties are welcome to contact me via email at Mash*[email protected].

I would greatly appreciate your continued support through the month of February and hope that you will cherish the memories we've built together in downtown Harrisonburg, VA.
