Pennsylvania Dutch recipes - a staple at The Soup Spot

Pennsylvania Dutch food is a simple but delicious style of cooking. It is also a staple at The Soup Spot. Our best selling Pennsylvania Dutch soup is Chicken Corn soup. Split pea with ham and Chicken and Dumplings are also always big hits.

Even though the Pennsylvania Dutch soups are basically the same, each recipe has been handed down from generation to generation, each with it’s own variation. All the different kinds of soup are delicious no matter which recipe you use.

Most Pennsylvania Dutch recipes are meat and potato oriented and fairly cheap to make, just perfect for a slow economy. The Soup Spot Sandwich duel finalists go on the campaigning trail for themselves and their sandwiches.

Harrisburg, PA//Soup Spot// The five week long Soup Spot Sandwich duel has come to its final week. The winners of each duel will now face off on Tuesday, November 8th, Election Day 2011. The candidates include kero, Angie, Steve, Derek and Ryan. Campaigning begins for them on Thursday, November 3rd in preparation for the online voting on the page on Election Day.

Voting will commence on Election Day morning at www.facebook.com/thesoupspothbg and end at 7pm. EST. “We believe in the Facebook polling process and do not expect to have any issues in calling the winner at 7:05pm. This will not be another Florida situation,” stated owner and current Sandwich President Randy Straub of the Souprocratic Party. However, a very confident and cocky Steve Bell the candidate from the Pajama Hawk Party has been concerned with the vote counting system and claims he will request a recount if he does not win.

The Soup Spot will host an Election Evening Party for any local real politicians going for real positions in addition to the Soup Spot candidates. Free tastings of all the election sandwiches will also be available. Voters that show their voting receipt or voter registration cards will receive a dollar off any meal on Tuesday. The Soup Spot will also be announcing a special Election Day Theme Soup of the Day Menu not to be missed.

The winner of this race will immediately face Randy and his sandwich, from Wednesday, November 9th to Tuesday, November 15th. Voting will run from the 9th to the 15th online at www.facebook.com/thesoupspothbg.

The winner will be announced the evening of the 15th at 7pm. Get out and Vote for your favorite Sandwich as well as your favorite candidates on Tuesday, November 8th and join us at the Soup Spot that evening for all the results.

Last week of the individual sandwich duels. The winner of this week will join the other four winners to find the winner by vote on Tuesday, November 8th. 2011. The winner of the elections will go up against Randy to find out who the new, true and real Soup Spot Sandwich King (or Queen) is. Pictured in the "Ryan the Lion" Sandwich called the UFO (The Ultimate Frying Object). Grilled Ham, Capicola, Provolone cheese, cole slaw, french fries and tomatoes on ciabatta bread.
