Last night, my family and I had the distinct honor of participating in a meal train for the mother and family of fallen CW2 Deontre Huey. 🇺🇸

When we arrived, no one answered the door. Their next-door neighbor came over and offered to take the food and make sure the family received it.

As we talked, she shared just how heartbreaking this entire situation has been—not only for CW2 Huey’s family, but for CW1 Olmstead’s family as well, especially with both Soldiers being from right here in our area.

Then she told us why the family wasn’t home…

They were seeing CW2 Huey’s body for the first time.

Most of y’all know my backstory and how Dec. 3rd 2011 changed my life forever, so hearing that hit me pretty damn hard.

We then learned that CW2 Huey’s funeral is Monday and the family was trying to find someone they could pay to cater a meal afterward for their family and friends.

The second I heard that, I knew what we were supposed to do.

There will be no bill. There will be no catering charge. We’ve got it.

Monday, Rossler’s Blue Cord Barbecue will provide the meal for CW2 Huey’s family and friends completely free of charge.

After we were able to provide a meal for CW1 Olmstead’s parents and help feed the Salado Volunteer Fire Department, so many of y’all reached out asking what you could do to help.
