HANOVER — Boloco, a longtime destination for burritos and other Mexican fare, changed hands last week.

Boloco’s owner and co-founder John Pepper, of Hanover, finalized a sale on Thursday of the restaurant at 35 S. Main St. to new owners — Conicia “CJ” Jackson, an entrepreneur from Lyme, and Shamar Shand, a chef who resides in West Lebanon.

I was listening to a podcast where a comment was made that “wokeness” has failed. I thought about what really is wokeness and put these thoughts together. I agree, by the way, that terms like woke can backfire badly on otherwise good and important intentions.

It’s not lost on me that the very same day I wrote this piece on kindness I posted a very unkind TikTok video about a terrible restaurant experience I had recently. So while I am as hypocritical as the next guy, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep trying.
