Despite the heat, today is shaping up to be an excellent day for paddle sports and eFoil lessons. Winds remain light and predominantly out of the west through much of the day, which should keep conditions favorable on the Bay.

After about 4 PM, winds begin shifting more to the south. That could add a little texture to the water, but it may also provide a welcome breeze coming off the Chesapeake Bay during the hottest part of the afternoon.

If you're heading to the beach today, take the heat seriously. Afternoon temperatures approach 100 degrees, while the heat index is expected to hover between 105 and 108 degrees for several hours. Stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade, and make sure you're applying sunscreen throughout the day.

The UV index peaks at 11.1 around 1 PM and remains very high for much of the afternoon.

There is also a possibility of thunderstorms during the evening hours, with the highest chances arriving around 7 PM. We'll see if the Buckroe Bubble can keep us dry one more time.
