Heads up 🤠
We are CLOSED again this week and we reopen on the 25th! BUT WE WILL HAVE FLOWER CUPS tomorrow morning…..for free🤭

They will be sitting inside the white cart house- while supplies last. (We will update when they’re gone)

We plan to have between 2-4 cups but if you know you’re coming let us know and we will plan to have more!

Here’s the difference between local RAW honey vs. bulk store honey(homogenized.) When you do smaller batches of honey from the same hives you’ll see a difference in the honey.

All three of these are from our personal hives.

On the left is an early spring honey (collected mostly in April.) It’s more clear because of the type of nectar the bees were feeding on(black locust, maple and mostly tree nectar.) This is a light clean honey.

The middle was collected in June when smaller native plants started to bloom and the bees were putting much more pollen away with the nectar than early spring. Which is why you’ll see more cloudiness in the honey due to more pollen. (that is not a bad thing) 🌼
This is a full floral flavor with more visible pollen.

And the far right was collected yesterday. (early summer) We have had a great year of clover. All the plants are blooming, our sunflowers are blooming and the purple loosestrife is in full bloom around our pond.
You can see the honey is starting to get much darker because of the plants they are visiting for the nectar.
This honey has a floral-nutty flavor and we believe it’s from the PL.

Local honey will you give variety from season to season and from one harvest to another. It’s unique and hard to reproduce because of specific circumstances during each season. (amount of rain, what is in bloom, clover etc.)

*one thing to always remember about our hive practices. We NEVER take honey from the bees if they need it*

We are closed TOMORROW!

So I figured I’d share one of our families favorite summer snacks. Typically you make all of this in a bowl. Watch out- it won’t last long

VINEGAR CUCUMBERS & ONIONS 🥒 🧅

1c cider vinegar
1/4c water
1c sugar
Salt and Pepper

Slice cucumbers thin
Add in sliced (supposed to be white onion) but all I had was red and it’s still delicious.

Soak for 2 hours, enjoy and prepare to become addicted.

We are closed for the next TWO Saturdays and reopen July 25th. So we decided to do something fun in the meantime.

Randomly, we are going to drop WC items that will be available for pickup any day during the week. Items will be limited so it’ll be like an auction. You claim first- it’s yours! When they’re gone, they are gone.

Side note about our candles: we started making these when Wesley Highley and I met. The name 727 candles is the distance we lived apart until we got married.

We initially started making these to help send kids to school in Kenya. Now we make them for you to enjoy years later.

July Announcement 📣

‼️ The following 2 Saturdays we will be closed‼️
We have made this hard decision first and foremost to spend time with our family.

Secondly we need a small little rest and recovery. We have been going hard for several weeks and it’s time to take a much needed break.

Thirdly- it’s HOT! 🥵

We will return July 25th and our hope is to have new items you can run and snag.

Here’s the schedule for July:

July 11th- CLOSED
July 18th- CLOSED
July 25th- back OPEN 🙂

We can’t wait to see all of you in a few short weeks! In the meantime- there are LOTS of Browned Butter Cookies at Harvest Moon Homestead . AND she is open 24/7. You are welcome.
