We opened our doors in 1999 and have been growing and providing excellent service ever since. We serve fine Irish fare and American cuisine for lunch and dinner, daily. We look forward to serving you and making you part of the family! As soon as you walk in, you dive into the world of our founder, Eamonn Ryan. The Playwright is decorated with authentic artwork, all of which comes directly from Ireland. We pride ourself on providing delicious food, excellent customer service, and lovely entertainment. The Playwright in Hamden opened in 1999 and is one of Connecticut's most authentic Irish Pub, Restaurant and Banquet Facilities. Twice a week, we house a Live Traditional Irish Music Session, which occurs every Tuesday and Sunday. Other live music acts we house include the one and only Jeff Conlon (http://www.jeffconlon.net/), the wonderful multi-genre David & Chenot (https://www.stellaforbes.com/davidandchenot) and the Connecticut-based Irish and Celtic Music Band, The Coracles (http://www.thecoracles.com/), just to name a few.
