Helping Hands for Waialua

We are looking for a few more strong sets of wheels to help our community! The Kukea Circle Community Distribution Hub is in full swing, and we need help transporting and loading donation boxes to keep the support flowing to our neighbors.

If you have a truck, a van, or even just some extra space and a willing spirit, we’d love to have you on the team. Whether you can help for an hour or an afternoon, every bit makes a difference in getting these essentials where they need to go.

How to Help:

What: Loading and transporting donation boxes.

Where: Meet us at 67-367 Kukea Circle, Waialua.

When: Tomorrow, May 12th, time TBD

Contact: Reach out to Sharmaine Arial or send a DM to coordinate a time!

"Many hands make light work." Let's show the North Shore some love! 🌊📦

Get • Share your manaʻo! Now’s your chance to help shape the City and County of Honolulu’s first-ever Oʻahu Food Systems Plan — a roadmap for a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable food future for our island.

The draft plan is officially open for public comment through June 30, and your voice matters. Whether you’re a farmer, fisher, food business owner, student, parent, or simply someone who eats (yes, that’s all of us), this is your opportunity to weigh in on how Oʻahu grows, distributes, and shares food for generations to come.

Review the draft plan and submit your feedback at resilientoahu.org/foodsystemsplan

Want to learn more first? Join one of the upcoming webinars to walk through the draft and learn how to use the commenting platform:

Session 1: May 8 | 2:00–3:00 PM (Zoom)
Session 2: May 13 | 6:00–7:00 PM (Zoom)
Together, we can build a stronger, more food-secure Oʻahu. Don’t miss your chance to be part of it.

Sharmaine Arial has experienced many extreme weather events in her Waialua home, but she's never seen flooding like this.

After the Kona low storms, she didn’t want to feel powerless waiting for help. Instead, she wanted to help her community who were also affected.

With supplies already on hand, she and her mother got the idea to start a community hub out of their garage.

Her spot is now called “Sharmaine's Hub” located at Kukea Circle. Now, more people have been donating to her to give to other flood victims. Some have even donated to her from the continental U.S.

So incredibly proud of our friend, Sharmaine! ❤️ Hawaii Public Radio just released a beautiful feature on her volunteer distribution hub, which she has been running right out of her garage on the North Shore.

We’ve been supporting Sharmaine’s efforts since the early days after the Kona storm, and seeing it grow has been nothing short of a miracle. It is a powerful reminder of what happens when we show up for one another. This hub isn’t just about supplies; it’s about the incredible love and resilience of our community.

Please take a moment to read/listen to her story! 🌺

Sharmaine's Hub has been open after the second Kona low storm and has been open 24/7 to North Shore residents affected by the March 20 floods.
