I struggled for months.

Social media is a highlight reel… shocker. Most people don’t see the behind-the-scenes of the 2 AM crash out or the days where you question literally everything. It’s not as easy as just “I quit my job.”

Not that long ago my alarm would go off at 3:25 AM and I’d head to the gym for some peace of mind before a full day of teaching. Some days I’d leave feeling better but other days I’d sit in my car and just cry.

I was struggling with my path and the uncertainty of starting a business and leaving my job where I was comfortable. I was exhausted mentally, physically, emotionally.

I wasn’t just praying for Honeyroot to be successful so I could leave teaching.

I was begging God for discernment to make the right decisions, and the courage to take a leap of faith if He was calling me into something new.

Looking back now, I realize those early mornings weren’t at all about building Honeyroot.

They were about building me.

While I was praying for things to speed up, God was slowing me down and shaping me into the person I needed to become before I stepped into this next chapter.

Sometimes preparation feels unbearably lonely, and it’s so hard to be patient, especially when it feels like nothing is happening. But I’ve realized that’s when God does His deepest work.

The character traits I built during that long, scary, slowwwwwww season are the very things I get to carry with me into this next chapter. 💛
