Today is not my birthday. But this morning I woke up to a few happy birthday messages. I logged into Facebook to investigate the confusion and was met with an invitation to register to vote for my 18th birthday…
Somehow, some way, Facebook merged my birthday with the birthday of the business and FB page I manage: Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery. Now that IS today. 18 years ago we opened our doors to the public; and what a magnificent, challenging, fulfilling adventure it has been! Today, and everyday, our family is so grateful to our team members at the store and on the farm, and grateful for our customers. Your support has helped to sustain our dairy farm and family.
So like I said, today is not my birthday - but there's plenty of reason to celebrate: our community, our hard work, our family recipes that live on in this place, that view from the porch. And on the last day of Dairy Month, what a great day for a birthday! Just ask my cousin, it really is hers! (I'm not kidding! HBD Kelly Girl!)

Celebrate Dairy Month by buying local! Choose Cabot, Our Family Farms, farm-label local dairy, or Hood products when you are in the dairy aisle. And when you can, purchase directly from farm stores. We hope to see you at Barstow's soon for lunch and ice cream or for farm raised burgers and steaks for the grill, local beer and wine, and homemade treats from the bakery case. We are accepting special orders now for Father's Day!

The Hadley Memorial Day Parade is canceled due to rain. We delight in tossing Cabot cheese to our community in the parade and will miss doing so tomorrow. If you were looking forward to getting your cheese at the parade, there’s still hope - we’ll be giving out our parade cheese for free tomorrow, Sunday 5/24 at Barstow’s Dairy Store and Bakery. And if you really want the full experience, we’ll even throw it at you! 😉
