This month’s spotlight Business of the Month is Naifeh's Steakhouse
Naifeh’s is a family owned and operated restaurant established February 19, 1979 by Zeke and Dee Naifeh. Zeke Naifeh, the son of Lebanese immigrants, was born October 6, 1924 in Council Hill, OK. He grew up in May, OK and later Sapulpa, OK where he worked in his parents’ grocery stores as a butcher. He served in the Army during WWII serving as Mess Sergeant. In 1946, Zeke married Dolores Cohlmia, also the daughter of Lebanese immigrants. In the early years of their married life, Zeke and Dee were well-known for their gracious style of entertaining and for their delicious home cooked meals! According to their friends and relatives, the Naifeh household was the place to be at mealtime, and nothing pleased the couple more than feeding a crew of hungry folks! The Naifeh family moved to Guymon from Tulsa in 1977, when Zeke was transferred with Wilson Foods. It was Zeke’s desire to combine his love of food and his knowledge of the meat business and an opportunity arose. With Dee’s support and approval, the two opened Naifeh’s Steakhouse in Guymon.
Zeke passed away in January of 1990, leaving the helm of the restaurant to Dee. Through faith and strength and with the help of her children and grandchildren and loyal employees, Dee continued the family’s legacy. Serving the Guymon community as only Dee could do! Always with a smile and a warm greeting! AND a warm and yummy meal! Dee passed away in December of 2016. Customers and friends still comment on her contagious smile and her kind heart!
Today the restaurant is operated by Zeke and Dee’s daughter Katrina Naifeh Akers, grandson Eric Bauer, granddaughter Bailey Akers Kane, great grandson Zeke Bauer, and longtime employee Andrew McCulloch. Naifeh’s is famous for their homemade soup made daily by Eric, and for their hand cut steaks, hand breaded chicken fried steaks and chicken strips, (also made by Eric)!
Naifeh’s has been fortunate to also cater many events in the Guymon area. Lots of families have entrusted the Naifeh family with their special events. Weddings, reunions, meetings and graduations just to name a few!
Greeting, serving, and cooking for their customers has been a labor of love for the Naifeh family! And as Big Zeke always said, “Naifeh’s Steakhouse—where you get GOOD FOOD, GENEROUS PORTIONS, and FAIR PRICES!”
