Our babies are growing up. Not too long from now they will be replanted in Little Lagoon to restore the reef.

Check out our baby oysters getting their first bath, more like a shower. You can see the grime difference in the before and after. The Original Oyster House is one of the only restaurants that grow stocker oysters to restore the reef through Auburn oyster gardening program. Nothing‘s more wonderful than being part of sustaining oysters., our brand. This year also marksp the 10th anniversary of the Oyster Shell Recycling Program the Original Oyster House piloted in 2016.

Ten years ago, the Original Oyster House became the first restaurant in Alabama to recycle oyster shells through the Alabama Coastal Foundation and as of this year, 31 million shells have been recovered.
The recycled shells go back to help restore the oyster reef, prevent coastal erosion, and enhance oyster, fish, shrimp, and crab populations. Through the oyster shell recycling program, shells are returned to the water helping restore habitat, protect coastlines, and new oysters filter the waters we all depend on.
