Well, this is pretty cool.

Pelican Scoops was voted Sunny 105.7's 2026 People's Choice Award Winner for Favorite Ice Cream/Dessert, and we're honestly blown away.

The thing that makes this award special is that most of our business comes from people talking about us. A local telling a tourist, "You've got to try Pelican Scoops." A condo owner sending guests our way. A family bringing their friends when they're in town.

That kind of support means everything to us, and we're incredibly grateful for it.

A big thank you to Shelia Moore, Bailey Plash, and Jasmine Mitchell in Gulf Shores, and Austyn Manasco in Fort Morgan, for taking such great care of our guests every day. They represent Pelican Scoops better than we ever could and are a huge part of why people keep coming back.

We'd also like to thank Fort Morgan Marina for being such a great partner and home to our Fort Morgan location over the years.

Most of all, thank you to everyone who voted, visited, recommended us, and supported us along the way.

We’re proud to see one of our own chasing the dream.

Many of you may remember Captain Sawyer Wales, who grew up around the marina and started working as a deckhand at just 15. After years of hard work, earning his captain’s license, and graduating from Auburn, Sawyer has officially launched his own charter business — Blue’s Charters.

Sawyer is a great friend of Tacky Jack’s Fort Morgan, and we’re proud to see him living his dream out on the water.

If you’re looking to get out on the Gulf and catch some fish, be sure to check him out and support one of our hometown captains.

Meet the Captain
Blue’s Charters is proudly owned and operated by Captain Sawyer Wales, whose passion for fishing began at 15 years old when he started working as a deckhand. After three years learning the ropes and gaining hands-on experience, he earned his captain’s license and began running trips of his own.
While working summers as both a deckhand and captain, Sawyer pursued his degree at Auburn University. After graduation, he made the decision to turn his passion into a full-time career, setting his sights on the goal of owning his own boat and running his own charter business.
Now, after three successful years as a licensed captain, that dream has become a reality. Captain Sawyer has purchased his own boat and launched Blue’s Charters, bringing years of experience, dedication, and Gulf Coast knowledge to every trip.
