Hello everyone! It's always bitter sweet for us this time of year as we take the tents down for the last time. I'm not gonna lie here, it was a rough year. The lack of rainfall made watering the corn a priority around here! We watered almost every day for a couple of months. And that is very tedious work. I need to give a shout out to Dylan McIlrath for doing such an awesome job for us. He was instrumental in keeping our crop alive and we could not have done it without him! But equally important is YOU, our wonderful customers. We truly have been blessed with the best customers! I can't tell you how many times we heard compliments like, "This corn is the best you've ever sold!" And, "This is the sweetest corn I have ever tasted!" And this, below, from another customer:
I wanted you to see the text message I just got from my mom. We live in Oskaloosa and have been able to come to Grinnell at least 4-5 times this summer to get your corn! We used to live in Grinnell so have been Humphrey Corn "only" for many years. My mom was always skeptical that it really was THAT good. Here is what she just sent me.. "You just made a believer out of me about Humphrey corn! That was as good a corn as I have ever eaten, it was as if it had just been picked and it had not, it was tender blistery but not the little tiny kernels but big ones, and good flavor. Mostly it was like it was fresh!! Delicious❤️"
I told her "Welcome to the Humphrey Corn snob club." Lol!'
It is people like you who make our hard work worthwhile and we can never thank you enough! We are so grateful that we are able to "See you at the stand!"
