Ahoy Mateys ⚓️
It’s been some time since we have made a sweet treat PSA, but it seems we are overdue 📢
As many of you know (and some of you are just figuring out), Mom’s desserts are pure freaking MAGIC 🪄 and have taken the community by storm ⛈️
We figured now is a good time to put a few messages out for the newbies and oldies that may not know.
Our confection queen, our sweets sorcerous, our dessert dynamo, the singular human who makes our treats, is actually Alex’s mom. Well, she’s pretty much mom to all of us at Shipwreck, but she is one human (with magical baking powers) and she pumps out countless desserts per week.
Recently, we have had angry guests when a dessert is either, A) not on the menu for that day, 😎 sold out for the day, or C) not available for pickup without a preorder. Item C has really taken us by surprise, because, while we pride ourselves on being superhuman, we do not know a special order dessert is needed without it being ordered.
In light of this, we want to explain how our dessert menu works here at Shipwreck 👩🏻🍳
-We have anywhere from 3-4 desserts EVERYDAY! Please remember, we are a restaurant, so bringing this variety daily seems rather appropriate.
-Our desserts rotate. While we generally have key lime pie (unless we sell out for the day), the other desserts rotate every few days, and sometimes even daily.
-All of our desserts are available until sold out. Mom takes the utmost pride in the preparation of her sweet treats and our mission is to bring our guests the freshest product possible. This means that she is not baking dozens of each dessert daily, because we want you all to enjoy them as fresh as they were intended to be.
-And finally, if you are craving something specific, Mom takes dessert orders on every delicious treat she makes! Please remember if you do go this route, desserts must be preordered. While Mom would probably rather be a partner in a bakery instead of a restaurant, Shipwreck is not, in fact, a bakery. The desserts we have on hand are baked fresh, in house, daily, for sale by the slice. This means we seldom have whole desserts on hand for sale on the fly.
That being said, just give us a call in advance, preorder the dessert of your choice (the options are endless), and we will have it ready for pickup when you need it!
While the general consensus has been nothing but positive, we have had some frustrated (and likely hungry) patrons that have placed that frustration where it does not belong.
On that note, THANK YOU to those who are loving, ordering, and supporting Mom’s dessert grind. You all make her day with EVERY. SINGLE. dessert sold. Seriously, she loses her mind when those pie/cake containers disappear in a single day. We just ask that everyone be respectful and kind to our Shipwreck crew. We know they are delicious, but it’s just dessert, after all! Plus, there are always several options to choose from ☺️
Let’s all give a round of applause to Mom! She’s making magic and bringing people together with every slice that leaves our kitchen, and we are really happy we get to share it with you all ♥️
