Robby and Ayden are heading to Denver.
Within the last 24 hours Aydens skin graft has become red and hot to the touch. We believe there is an infection at this point. This first started flaring up in February, and since then we have been trying to get to the root of the problem. As of right now Ayden does not have a fever and we are hoping whatever has been going on the last few months can be resolved. We were made aware that when a patient goes through a severe infection Like Ayden did in 2023, there is always a chance that another infection can rear its ugly head again down the road. We are hoping and praying this can be taken care of.
Denver childrens plastics team has advised that we go to the Colorado university hospital next to them as they will be more capable of caring for this.
The heart transplant team is aware of what is going on and is in communication with the university transplant team. Denver children's is in charge of Ayden's care, however, he needs adult care for the skin graft that Children’s cannot provide.
He also has a swollen lymph node in his thigh which they are concerned could be playing a role with the swelling and recurrent infection. He received an antibiotic shot at the PCPs office to help stave off anything that is growing in his foot. The shot was given out The concern due to the wait time once Robby and Ayden arrive in Denver. There are no immediate beds available and the wait time is currently 8 hours. With the progressed change in his foot since last night it is a concern as his body cannot fight this infection efficiently due to the immunosuppressants Ayden is on.
We will be open through the weekend and Monday and Tuesday. If Robby and Ayden are not back next week we will be closed Wednesday through the holiday weekend. Josiah is flying out Wednesday for his Iceland trip, therefore, that leaves us without any cooks until Robby and Ayden are home. We will keep our business page updated and our hours updated if anything else arises.
