🚨 FRIDAY’S FINEST DECISIONS 🚨
The “Forgot Something?” Edition
Well… this is a new one.
On August 27, 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the staff at the Coffee Cup in Summit got a little more than they bargained for when a gentleman entered the establishment apparently wearing nothing from the waist down.
Yep. You read that correctly.
The gentleman reportedly entered the store and attempted to prepay for gas at the pump. Coffee Cup staff politely reminded him that the traditional “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service” policy probably covered this situation as well.
We tend to agree.
And, as it turns out, South Dakota has laws concerning indecent exposure that may also have something to say about going shopping without your pants.
Deputies responded after the gentleman had already left the business and are currently investigating The Great Summit Pantless Gas Purchase of 2026. Information from the investigation will be forwarded to the Roberts County State’s Attorney’s Office for review and consideration of any appropriate charges.
As always with our Friday’s Finest Decisions posts, we aren't making fun of anyone involved or suggesting guilt before the investigation is complete. Law enforcement deals with some difficult, strange, and occasionally downright unbelievable situations on a daily basis.
Sometimes a little humor is simply our way of sharing the lighter side of an otherwise challenging profession.
This week’s friendly reminder:
â›˝ Need gas? Bring your wallet.
đź‘– Going inside to pay? Bring your pants.
Stay safe—and fully clothed—Roberts County.
