Dad’s services will be held on Thursday (7/18) at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada. The visitation will be from 10-11 and the funeral at 11. The family viewing will be at 9:30. Dad will be buried at Forest Hill South cemetery in Memphis.

My sweet, precious dad took his last breath at 5:15 this morning. After a year-long battle with illness and being in and out of the hospital, he passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. He was the kind of man who always had a helping hand and a listening ear. My dad was one of the strongest, most determined and stubborn person I have ever known. He fought so hard to get better. He always pushed me to do my best. I'm incredibly grateful for the time I had with him and the lessons he taught me. I can't imagine life without him. He leaves a huge void in my heart.

I kept trying to tell him not to worry about me, because I KNOW he doesn't have to worry. He doesn't have to worry about me because of what I got from him.

I wish he got to see me do more. That I got to share more stories with him. But I know he's still watching me and will get to see everything.
After he passed, there was a beautiful sunrise. The sky was such a calm beautiful spectrum of all different colors. That made me feel like he was letting us know he is in peace.
