Visceral fat is a type of fat that is stored within your abdomen. It’s typically wrapped around vital organs, like the liver, stomach, and intestines, and can also build up in your arteries.

Usually, it’s hard to the touch and stored just under the skin. You can see it in people with protruding bellies, but you can also be “slim” and have it internally.

Visceral fat is concerning because it can lead to serious health conditions like heart disease, heart attack, stroke, certain cancers, and type 2 diabetes. It can also quickly increase blood pressure and insulin resistance. Visceral fat also can lead to chronic inflammation and other chronic diseases.

So how can you get rid of (or prevent) visceral fat?
🥑 Eat a healthy low carb, high protein & fat diet
⏰ Intermittent fasting
😴 Get better sleep
🍺 Drink less alcohol
🧘 Stress management - yoga, meditation, journaling
🏋️‍♀️ Exercise - cardio & resistance training
