unclefredsfranks.com is a mobile food business delivering hot dogs to customers seeking fresh-cooked food in an outdoor, on-the-go environment. The first version of this business was called Fred’s Franks and was started in Wakefield, MA by Fred Rex. Fred worked in the high-tech electronics field for 25 years until the company he worked for was sold. His mission was simple: Provide you with one of

the best hot dogs you have ever eaten. Fred sold Fred’s Franks in 2010 and decided to move to Colorado to live closer to his sister, Sarah, her husband, Greg, and their two children, Dylan and Gabby. Fred's Franks is still running today in Wakefield and can be found at fredsfranks.com. Fred decided to re-launch the business in the Denver area to deliver to the people of Colorado a hot dog that was unsurpassed. He decided to call it Uncle Fred’s Franks.

It is with deep sadness that we share with you that Uncle Fred passed away Tuesday. He was at home, in Jackson Mississippi, doing what he loved. He was getting ready to grill up dinner when he had an apparent heart attack. Fred was a memorable character with many talents. We all enjoyed his masterful Hot Dogs and his huge personality as he cooked them up for us.

Friends of Uncle Fred's Franks,

Over the past 5 years, Uncle Fred has been striving to serve you one of the best hot dogs you have ever eaten. It's been a great ride, but Uncle Fred is hanging up the hot dog tongs and is retiring.

We want to thank all our loyal customers for their patronage and support over the years. You are the reason Uncle Fred fires up the Big Green Egg each day.

Uncle Fred would love nothing more than for one of his customers to become the owner. When Uncle Fred started his first food truck in Wakefield, MA back in 2003, he built it into a huge success and then sold it to a guy named Carl who is still running it today.
