This just occurred here at Elsasser’s.
Be aware that there is a multilevel phone scam where one person calls you threatening a service shutdown if payments aren’t made and then when you argue “transfers” you to billing.
The scammer working me was on “hold”… so I called National Grid on speakerphone and when he returned he asked if I was calling customer service… and insinuated he was only trying to help. I then said “Yes I’ll be on the phone with National Grid “ and he said “ok whatever” and hung up.
I then confirmed with National Grid my accounts are all in good standing.

There will no longer be live music at Elsasser’s.
For those of you who don’t know, there are music licensing companies that charge venues fees to cover copywriting playback costs for composers and artists.
I have been diligent in paying these fees… which total over $3000 a year.
I also pay the musicians who perform here $50 an hour.
This is no longer feasible.
Elsasser’s digs a deeper hole every time a musician/DJ/karaoke night occurs.
If you are a musician, who strongly believes in this system of payment for composition, perhaps it is time to lobby these companies to change their format so YOU pay for the rights to play the music you are already being paid by the venue to play.

I have eaten these costs previously because the aesthetic and culture of music in my restaurant was important to me.
Can’t do it anymore.

We here ’s will continue to try to provide the greatest food hospitality possible… and we extend thanks to all artists who have helped make our restaurant a haven for the arts.

Break a leg wherever you are able to perform.
