I had the most perfect dinner. The quality of the ingredients, flavor combinations, textures, seasoning and portion sizes were spectacular. The warm, friendly and informative service was the cherry on top (I’m biased, I know!). Not one note, it was perfection. You can taste the passion, creativity and dedication that Chef Kathleen, Chef Jason, Birthwell, Kwanele, Evral and Shalle put into every dish.

Being a chef isn’t a job, it’s a passion.

It’s the early mornings, the careful preparation, the attention to every detail, and the countless decisions that happen long before a plate ever reaches your table. Every dish is created with intention, cooked with care, and delivered with the hope that you’ll taste the difference.

Behind every bite is a talented team who genuinely care about what they’re putting in front of you, from the ingredients we choose, to the way each plate leaves the kitchen. Our hope is that you can taste the passion in every bite.

If you’ve worked in hospitality before you know that the kitchen is often referred to as the “heart of the house”…this could not be more true in our house ❤️ Our incredibly talented culinary team is without a doubt the heart of our operation. From fresh baked treats in each guest room, to picnic lunches, spa snacks, multi course dinners and a family meal for our staff twice per day, they make sure no one is ever left hungry! And when they can escape the kitchen to catch a sunset we know it’s been a good day ☀️ Pictured from left to right: Evral Bryan, Line Cook; Christopher Bloomfield, Dishwasher; Kwanele Nocanda, Line Cook; Kathleen Blake, Executive Chef; Birthwell Kamanga, Line Cook; Not pictured: Jason Lashmar, Sous Chef & Shalle Samuels, Breakfast Cook 📸: William Blake

On our 250th birthday of this land that we love, we celebrate everything that makes America, Maine, and the Moosehead region so special—wild places, welcoming communities, timeless traditions, and the simple joy of gathering around the table with family and friends.

We’re so grateful to call this remarkable corner of Maine home. Every guest who walks through our doors becomes part of its story, whether they’re watching the sunset on the porch, sharing a memorable meal, or creating traditions of their own. Cheers to 250 years of freedom, resilience, and the enduring beauty of the place we’re proud to share with you. Happy Independence Day from our family to yours. 🇺🇸

As Martha Stewart famously said… “... If you want to be happy for a decade, get a dog. And if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, make a garden.” It is absolutely impossible not to be filled with joy when you are surrounded by a garden that is tended with love and dedication. This one is bursting with both and you can taste it in every bite.

Every new dish starts with months of planning and hard work before Chef Kathleen steps into the kitchen. Our seasonal garden started as a lot of dirt and seeds back in February and is now thriving and producing. This time of year we’re harvesting a lot of lettuce, kale, herbs and micro greens, but thanks to the dedication and hard work of Guillermo, Bruce, Rick, Madalina and Ross we’re already seeing vegetables come from our garden. And they are delicious!
