Why Does Plant-Based Sometimes Cost More?
We often hear this question from the plant-based community, and it is a fair one.
In this example, the case sizes are equal—12 pounds each:
Beef: $71.90 per case
Beyond Meat: $111.99 per case
The plant-based option costs about 56% more before seasoning, preparation, cooking, packaging, and labor are added.
Vegan meat substitutes are specialty products with fewer suppliers and higher shipping and distribution costs. They may also sell more slowly than beef, causing restaurants to hold that inventory much longer—sometimes several times longer—while still covering refrigeration, storage, and potential product loss.
At Vegan House Shack, we believe there is another way. We invite you to try our house-made (Smoky Sensation (Beefless Ground)—created in our own kitchen with flavor, quality, and less reliance on costly commercial meat substitutes.
Scratch-made takes work, but it allows us to offer something unique that comes straight from our kitchen.
Come taste the Vegan House Shack difference!
