Open Mic Draws Large Crowd

The Greenfield Opera House hosted its first event of the 2020 season last Saturday Night that drew a large crowd. The audience was treated to several local musicians and some that traveled from as far as Bolivar and Carthage, MO to participate in the event as well as the singer/songwriter workshop.
Mike Wilkinson, the Director of Music and Events for the Opera House, was thrilled with the talent of the musicians and the crowd that showed up to support the event. “I always knew that with advance planning and publicity the community and surrounding area would support our efforts.”
Another tradition that started back in 1889 and will continue is having every musician that performs on the Opera stage to sign their name and date on the Ed Koca blackboard located in the main hallway of the Opera House. Pictured is 14 year old Skyler Weimer from Lockwood, MO being one of the first to autograph the board. We look forward to having many more artists getting this opportunity!
The next scheduled event at the Greenfield Opera House will be another Open Mic night on April 11,2020. For future events check out their website at greenfieldoperahouse.net

The Turnback Community Art Association has a new “hanging” in the Opera House. This is a good one!!
Familiar artists include Angie Myers and Chuck Myers. Chuck’s painting White Buffalo is stunning.
Delores Reuter has two new Fabrics. Her Autumn Birches Fabric is incredible. Jack Norris (Papaw Jack), a new artist from Mount Vernon, has a painting of sailboats running before a storm that is breathtaking. Another new artist, Madelyn Tyler, has a group of outstanding mini paintings on display. A must see!!
Also, friends have loaned paintings by late artists Joan Emery and Sharon Drew. We are always proud to display their work. Chris Shorts beautiful photographs continue to be on display as well. A big thank you to the Dade County Historical society for loaning us the photograph of the Washington Hotel.
The Turnback Community Art Association has been reaching out to artists in Stockton during recent months. As a result, three of our local artists Kaleb Back, Vicki Gillan, and Lisa Hogan have been asked to display their work in Stockton City Hall. 👏Bravo Zulu to Angie Meyers and other Turnback Community artists who have established this connection with our sister city at the north end of Stockton Lake!!
