Canyonlands National Park is the least visited national park in Utah, but it ranks 6th on my list of best national parks in the USA.

If you go, don’t miss Mesa Arch, the Shafer Trail Viewpoint, and Green River Overlook. You can easily see all 3 in a single morning or evening from Moab.

𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗔 𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗘 #𝟯: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀

This camera had already documented a canyon about to be transformed. When Richard Jackson placed it in Dawn Kish’s hands, he gave it another question to carry.

After Tad Nichols gave this 𝘾𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙘 4×5 𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙖 to his friend and collaborator Richard Jackson, Richard became its steward. Years later, he placed it in the hands of photographer Dawn Kish.

That gesture connected three people across generations: the photographer who used images to show what 𝙂𝙡𝙚𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙤𝙣 stood to lose, the friend who preserved the work and its purpose, and the artist willing to return the camera to a profoundly changed landscape.

The camera’s return transformed a historical record into a continuing conversation. Tad’s photographs had become an elegy for a place believed lost. Dawn’s would document reemergence—and 𝙖𝙨𝙠 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙧.
