Wow!!!! I think we're done. What an unbelievable experience!!! We raised $2165 in cash, we hit our goal of 300 hot meals, and my truck was LOADED with supplies on the way down. We were able to purchase a small fridge, new bedding (5 sets), a couple of Visa gift cards, for very needy folks. Plus, I hit Sam's 3 times. Tons of water, Gatorade, snacks, pet supplies, Ensure,...the list goes on. Every dime is accounted for. If anyone would like a more detailed list of things we bought or did, just message me, and I'll be happy to go over it.
Thank you, Thank You, Thank you! We are so appreciative of everyone's generosity. The people we served were so grateful!! The one thing that stuck out most to me is how selfless everyone was. Not one person took more than they needed. Many people refused things because they had enough, and someone else might need it. It happened a lot. It was great to see.
I'm not political at all. I don't want to argue about politics at all. You can try to engage me, but I won't bite. I just had an interesting perspective this year. I didn't vote. Which I'm embarrassed to say. Voting the last 12 few years hasn't been fun. I always walk away from the polls feeling like I need a really long shower. But I do it because thousands of men and women have fought and died for my right to vote. So I do it to be respectful to them. I was knee deep in America's failures this week. I saw first hand the federal governments response to a natural disaster. It wasn't enough. FEMA has flaws. ALOT.. I would go through my phone and see coverage of the election and I would immediately turn it off. Such juvenile topics and behavior. The government is failing, both sides and something needs to be done. I met a woman named Judy at one of the mobile home parks. She still doesn't have power!!!!! We were talking ( more laughing) about the election. She said " You idiots want my vote, turn on my power!" Seems fair to me.
