An Open Mic Sonnet, by Hillary

We always have believed you can combine
a cup of coffee and a melody.
The comfort that you feel from both align
to provide a feeling of ecstasy.

Come! Listen to the gentle guitar play.
It calls to you just like a siren song.
We’re here for you to start and end the day.
This coffeehouse, a place where you belong.

It’s fine if you cannot carry a tune.
There are plenty of ways to entertain.
Or, you can just enjoy the afternoon
watching the show and turning off your brain.

Shake off the work week and come grab a bite!
The New Roots open mic is Friday night.
