✨ Meet the Visionaries Behind IGNITE: The Zarah Coffee Shop
Every great business starts with someone who sees possibility where others see what already exists.
For The Zarah Coffee Shop, that vision began with a simple question: What if this space could become something more?
After years of walking into what was then Perks Coffee Shop, owner Kimberly Becker couldn't shake the feeling that it could be more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee. She envisioned a place where people could gather, conversations could flourish, friendships could grow, and community could happen. That vision became The Zarah Coffee Shop — bringing new life to one of Great Bend's historic buildings while honoring the legacy of the original Zarah Hotel and Coffee Shop.
But The Zarah isn't simply about serving coffee. It's about creating a place where people feel welcome to stay awhile —whether they're meeting a friend, working remotely, studying, hosting a gathering, or simply slowing down for a moment. The goal is to create connection while supporting downtown Great Bend and preserving an important piece of its history.
Through the IGNITE program, she's gained practical business mentorship, strengthened her financial and operational knowledge, and developed the confidence to think strategically about the future of the business.
If awarded the grand prize, the investment would help expand operations, improve infrastructure, create additional jobs, and continue transforming The Zarah into the community gathering place it was always meant to be.
Join us on October 8 as The Zarah Coffee Shop takes the IGNITE stage to share its vision for the future—and compete for a share of $95,000 in prize funding.
