Folks, we hate to do it, but we are canceling this year's festival. We're disappointed, and we know a lot of you will be too. The weather just isn't in our favor, and with rain being forecast earlier and earlier in the day, we believe we need to cancel for the safety of our guests, vendors, and employees.

However, we ARE making molasses and applebutter on Saturday! We'll be down at the shed all day, and we'll have the following items for sale, all made by members of our family:
🌾 Molasses - all made within the last month! Quart - $15, Pint - $8
🌾 Applebutter Pint - $7
🌾 Honey Pint -$ 15, 12oz Honey Bear - $12
🌾 Jams and Jellies Pint - $7
🌾 Pumpkin Butter Pint - $7
🌾 Handmade Tin-Punch Ornaments - $5

Stop by and see us at the molasses mill (no admission fee!) and grab a jar of molasses to take home! Cash only!

If it's raining, we're happy to meet you at your car so you don't have to get out in the rain. You can drive up to the molasses mill.

If you were planning to come to the festival from out of town and wanted to buy molasses, email [email protected], and we'll be happy to ship to you.

🪕 We are also still open with our regular business hours on Friday AND Saturday night! We'll be open 5-9, and The Dollar Brothers will be playing both nights! Don't let the rain stop you from coming out to enjoy great bluegrass, our all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet, and fun for the whole family! 🪕

One last harvest of cane before this Saturday’s festival! We’ll be cutting tomorrow so we’re ready for cooking molasses all day during the festival.

We hope you’ve made plans to join us for the 44th Annual Molasses Festival this Saturday, October 10, from 9-4. We’ll have live bluegrass, a performance from the Sims Country Cloggers, over 30 vendors, and molasses and apple butter cooking! We’ll also have breakfast, bbq sandwiches, hamburgers, and hotdogs for sale, and two more food vendors! We’ve got something for everyone!

Admission is $3 ages 4 and up - bring the whole family and stay all day!

We've got great entertainment lined up for the Molasses Festival this Saturday from 9-4!

🪕 The Dollar Brothers will be playing on our outdoor stage throughout the day on Saturday - bring a lawn chair and stay all day to enjoy live bluegrass!
🪕 The Sims Country Cloggers will be performing inside the restaurant from 10-11 am Saturday morning. Check out some great clogging routines and learn more about traditional Appalachian dance!
🪕 We'll have molasses and applebutter cooking, along with blacksmithing demonstrations, just over the hill at the Molasses Mill all day. Stop by to learn the process of planting, growing, harvesting, grinding, and cooking molasses, or see how applebutter is cooked. Be sure to stop by and see Josh Cooper with Cooper Family Farms, LLC to learn about blacksmithing!

Molasses making has always been a family affair, and we’re thankful we get to teach the fourth generation of molasses makers how it’s done. These great-grandkids of Keith Sims (and their cousins) have taken over Grandpa Sims’s favorite job…taste testing what’s leftover in the pan after the molasses is poured to make sure it’s good♥️

We’ll be making molasses all day at the 44th Molasses Festival on October 10th. Bring your family and come out to spend the day with us! We have over 30 vendors, food for sale, live bluegrass from The Dollar Brothers, blacksmithing demonstrations, clogging, and more!

We've got a great month planned at the BBQ! We'll have live bluegrass every Friday and Saturday night this month 🪕

Make plans to come out with your family to enjoy the cooler weather and beautiful leaves, along with our all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet, live music, and square dancing and line dancing! We're just a short 15-minute drive from 321 between Hickory and Lenoir - a great place to stop for supper on your way up to or back from the mountains!

We spent the weekend making molasses getting ready for the festival🌾

We’ll have our molasses - home grown, harvested, processed, and cooked - for sale at the Molasses Festival on October 10 from 9-4 right here on the property, along with live bluegrass, clogging, vendors, blacksmithing demonstrations and more!

Many of you know our friends, The Little Brothers, who have played at the BBQ and been friends of our family for over 40 years. We’re sad to share that Joel Little recently passed away. It’s molasses making time! We’ve been preparing for the 44th Annual Molasses Festival all summer, and now we’re starting this year’s runs of molasses! These pictures are from last week’s molasses run. We’ll be making more between now and the festival - and of course we will be making molasses at the festival too!

Make plans to join us on October 10 from 9-4 and learn more about the whole process of making molasses - and grab your own locally-grown, harvest, ground, and cooked molasses! We will sell til we’re sold out!
