Wasn’t going to further engage with some of the comments on our after-school policy. But here we go…

Honestly, I like to believe the best in people and because of that I have to believe that those who are blaming policies like mine for the anti-socialism of americas youth or those who say I should be sued for discrimination against teenagers all comes from a place of ignorance to the actual situation… listen…

We are not talking about disallowing kids in the store because they are loud or excited to hang out with each other, for YEARS we have been able to (for the most part) give the kids a quick “quiet down” or “watch your mouth” and we have had a mostly decent relationship with our young customers. But over the last couple years we have had:

-Kids “surfing” on tables (and falling creating liability issues)
-Couples locking themselves in bathrooms and “rumors” of their actions being recorded
-Front glass doors kicked through
-Fights in the dining room
-Multiple broken chairs
-Cushioned booths stabbed
-Wooden booths carved into
-Full sodas thrown that hit an old couple minding their business
-A student thrown through the drywall by another student.
-Employees have had ice cream thrown at them
-Staff has been cussed out and threatened, even followed to their cars
-Cars have had rocks thrown at them.
-Not to mention the soda stealing but that’s a minor inconvenience compared to everything else.

We aren’t talking about me refusing teenagers a place to hang. That’s not what this is.

I owe it to the old couple enjoying a banana split together, the mom with her young children and my staff to protect them, what they hear and see, and their property, along with my own investment into this business. If the above actions are “kids being kids” to you and you welcome that stuff while you eat somewhere then I guess go eat at the places who will allow it cause they aren’t going to happen here anymore…

I do want to make sure to say that the reaction to this policy has been overwhelmingly positive and supportive and I’m very thankful for that!

Now I’m gonna try to be done facebooking and get back to my real world. Come buy a Pumpkin Pie Blizzard!

The remodel of our DQ is now pretty much complete! It’s taken a lot longer than we anticipated. It ended up being perfect timing as $6.99 Chicken Strip Baskets featuring our new MVP Dips line is HERE! Strip Dip is amazing, and if you like heat the Ghost Pepper sauce is FIRE!

Also the turn of the calendar brings Pumpkin Pie Blizzards back, it’s joined by Brown Sugar Cookie Dough as the Blizzards of the Month!

And if you likes MooLatte, you’re going to LOVE the new Coffee Coolers! Only $3 for a limited time!

Our dining room has all new seating and we have recently and publicly committed to ensuring that your dine in experience is a good one, especially in the afternoons!

Effective immediately no students will be allowed at DQ without a parent between the hours of 2-4pm. They will not be allowed inside the store, on the patio, or lingering in the parking lot. We will call the police (again) if anyone stays on the property longer than to walk through to somewhere else.

Other businesses have taken this measure and we have tried not to for as long as we can. It’s out of control and it’s so disappointing and embarrassing for the city.

You may have noticed already but we are under construction! 🚧 We are making some upgrades to our dining room, drive thru production area and exterior!

We plan to remain OPEN through all of it while we make everyone’s favorite corner more beautiful!

Our priorities have always been invest first in people, second in process and third in brick and mortar. We feel like we are in a very good place with a strong staff, we have invested in a lot of new equipment and layout and now we’re ready to make our building match our team!

This group has led us to ELEVEN CONSECUTIVE months of sales records (a 14% increase in a rolling 12 month period) and we’re hoping this refresh is the launching point to turn your DQ into one of the top DQs in the region!

The dining room may be a bit noisy and the parking may be a little limited with construction trucks but we’re confident the finished product will look great! Come see us during construction and definitely after!!

Bre isn’t just showing up… she’s crushing every shift. Whether she’s dominating the window like a drive-thru MVP or whipping up ice cream at lightning speed, she brings an energy that turns busy rushes into smooth sailing.
