Surprise, it’s (vegan) buns!

Turns out, I have a lot of medical bills to pay so let’s make/eat some buns!

Preorders are already live on my Square site so hustle! Square and I don’t always get along so hopefully I caught every little thing 😅 You may get the wrong pickup date emailed to you so just pay attention to the date in the actual listing, I’m doing my best hahaha (link in comments)

Oh! You can also purchase sprinkle cookies for my annual fundraiser benefitting The Grand Rapids Pride Center for pick up on the 23rd! ✨🌈

Happy (almost) June! My “party cookies” are back to once again support 🌈 They are cute and vegan and SPRINKLY and super tasty! 40% of sales will go directly to The Pride Center so sn**ch them up!

Look for an opportunity to order some directly from me in a couple weeks. 👀

Ok, folks here we go!

I will be opening the bun 4 pack pre-order TOMORROW, Saturday 9/23 at 10am.

The box will include 4 vegan sweet buns: 1 lemon, 1 maple, 2 cinnamon. Pick up will be on Sunday, 10/1 between 9am and 11am at

It’s happppening!!! ✨

I’ll be popping up with VEGAN SWEET BUNS at on Sunday, October 1st at 9am!! (9-sold out)

I’ll be taking pre-orders for a 4 pack of buns (two cinnamon, one maple and one lemon!) I’ll post more details about the pre-order soon!! If you miss the pre-order, I’ll have single buns for sale at the shop!

I am going to make as many buns as I can but I’m just one old lady so don’t get mad at me if they sell out quickly! 😅😆

Hello there!

Well, there is no easy way to say this so I’m just going to get it out there: the days of Sweet Batches sweet buns are coming to an end.

SB has been such a huge part of my life, a huge blessing, for 10 years and the buns have been a massive part of that for the last 2 1/2. But, as you know, all good things must come to an end.

Working every single weekend has been taking a toll on the Battjes family, and I need to simplify to be with my people more. Truth is, I’ve been struggling with this decision for a long time and I’m finally *kind of* ready.

Good news is that I’ll be making some of my favorites (as well as the classic cinnamon bun!) for the next six weekends. Might as well go out on a high note!

Here’s what and when:

2/11 and 2/12: dark chocolate strawberry buns

2/18 and 2/19: orange cardamom buns

2/25 and 2/26: peanut butter buns

3/4 and 3/5: lemon buns

3/11 and 3/12: lemon again (my favorite! 😆)

3/18 and 3/19: dark chocolate buns (FINAL WEEKEND FOR BUNS!)

Thank you thank you thank you for your support! I am so happy that these buns have been so loved. And yes, you’ll still see SB goods around town! (I’ll still be cranking out shortbread, vegan cookie sandwiches, vegan brownies and granola bars.. just not at the crack of dawn!)

Maybe down the road a bit I’ll be ready for a little bun pop up 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hello! Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who made it out to the beer release or sent good vibes over to us. We had so much fun and it was just such a wonderfully bright and uplifting day! If you tried Call Your Mom let me know what you thought! I was so happy with how it turned out. Jeremy and Diamond at Founders Brewing Co. absolutely nailed it! So many people came over to tell me how balanced and smooth it was. 🥰

I also want to use this opportunity to say that we decided to donate all of our profits from Friday’s baked goods to USA for UNHCR who are lending support to refugees fleeing their homes in Ukraine. Our hearts are so heavy. 💔 Please donate, if you’re able.

Don’t forget that our very special Founders Brewing Co. beer collaboration, Call Your Mom, is being released THIS FRIDAY, 2/25 at 1pm! CYM is a brown ale brewed with cinnamon, vanilla, maple and sea salt! I have never tasted a beer quite like it! This collaboration has been super fun and everyone I have worked with has been just so lovely.

Dave Battjes and I will be at the Grand Rapids taproom from 1-6 selling baked goods and hanging out so come down!! 🍻🍪

We’ll have cinnamon buns, cookie sandwiches, brownies, shortbread and some little brown sugar cinnamon hand pies!

(shortbread and pies are not vegan)

I put on non-slip boot covers and safety goggles and a giant hairnet and it was worth it for this very cool experience! I hope y’all can make it out next Friday for the release! I’ll have treats and high fives and would love to say hello!

Kelly, owner of Sweet Batches and our latest Collaboration Series partner, spent the day brewing her creation, Call Your Mom, with Brewmaster, Jeremy, and R&D Brewer, Diamond. We had so much fun creating this beer that we had to call our moms after to let them know all about it.

Call Your Mom, a brown ale brewed with vanilla, cinnamon, maple and sea salt inspired by Sweet Batches’ amazing pastries, releases Friday, February 25, at 1pm on draft and in limited 750mL bottles. Kelly will be in the taproom selling her scrumptious creations too! Now go call your mom and plan to meet us at the taproom next Friday.
