We made it to the Original Swensen's of San Francisco!

Some friendly Michiganders visited Swensen’s today, enjoying their scoops before exploring San Francisco (hope you found the pizza place!). Also, Michigander is a great word to describe someone from Michigan, as is the alternate, Michiganian. They didn't say if they were Yoopers, however, but it would be really cool to be a Yooper Michigander!

For now, we’re enjoying some much-needed family time… and apparently recreating movie scenes. 😂 Jackie is officially obsessed with Voicemails for Isabel and has probably watched it 25 times already.

So naturally, we’re out here trying to recreate a little of the magic. 😂❤️

Reminder: We’re on vacation this week celebrating our Adobo Boy turning 13! ❤️🇵🇭

Today’s adventure: we hopped on BART from downtown San Francisco to Daly City because our guy had one request… SINIGANG. 😂

Daly City, just south of San Francisco, is often called “Little Manila” because 1 out of 3 residents are Filipino (highest in any city in the US). Part of our vacation includes eating our way through some Filipino food and finding a little inspiration to bring home.

And Redd? He’s currently campaigning hard for Chicharon Bulaklak to make its way onto the Adobo Boy menu. 😂

We miss you all, but we’re enjoying this family time, celebrating Redd, eating good food, and getting inspired.

Adobo Boy will be back open August 19! ❤️

Quick update for tonight, August 8! ❤️

Dinner will be TO-GO ONLY tonight as we have our mother-son duo, Chef Jackie & Redd, holding down Adobo Boy while Ace is out DJing another event. 🎧

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding!

After tonight, we’re taking a week off to celebrate a pretty big milestone—Redd is turning 13! 🥹❤️ We’re also squeezing in our actual family summer vacation before school starts. We’ll be back August 19!

One more thing…

If you or someone you know could really use a meal tonight, simply ask Redd for the “Chef Jackie Special for Friends.” No explanation needed. We’ll take care of you. ❤️

Recently, we noticed that the big wheeled bin we kept out back for our empty pop cans had disappeared.

At first, we were a little shocked. But then we thought about it differently. A container full of returnable cans might be pretty tempting to someone who really needs the extra money.

It reminded us that we never truly know what someone in our community may be going through.

So today during lunch, August 8, if you need a meal—or know someone who does—just tell Ace that you’d like a “Chef Jackie Special for a friend.” No questions asked. ❤️

We’ll set you up with a to-go Adobo Bowl.

Please feel comfortable asking. That’s what community is about: taking care of one another when we can.

We’re a little short-staffed tonight, so Redd and Chef Jackie will be holding down Adobo Boy while Ace is away. ❤️

And speaking of Redd… somehow our little guy is turning 13 soon! 😭 School is almost back in session, so we’re taking next week off to celebrate and enjoy the last few days of summer with our soon-to-be teenager.

Meanwhile, Redd and Jackie held down the night shift at Adobo Boy while Ace was out DJing for PAWS in the Park Run/Walk 2026. 🎧🐾
