Last night was one of those nights that reminds you just how special the music community is up here. ❤️
First, a huge shoutout to the Gun Flint Tavern. That rooftop is such a cool space, and on a perfectly still September night overlooking Grand Marais, I honestly can’t imagine a better place for what unfolded. And a special shoutout to the bartenders because the cocktails were absolutely on point!
Caitlin Nicol-Thomas and Al Oikari took the rooftop with Joe Luoma on drums, and then one by one, more incredibly talented musicians started joining in. Pat Flack on guitar, Emma Tweten jumping up to sing a couple songs, Gary Croft joining the fun…and before long it turned into this incredible jam session.
Watching all of these musicians come together, feed off one another and just PLAY was pretty damn powerful. No big production. Just a rooftop full of talented people, a crowd loving every second of it, and music carrying through downtown Grand Marais.
And lucky us…Caitlin and Al will be back at Skyport this Thursday from 6–8 PM, playing inside!
Joe, Pat, Emma, Gary…and any of our other ridiculously talented North Shore musicians…consider this your official invitation. Our door is open. Come jam. We’re willing to stay and play all night. ❤️
These are the nights I love about living here.
