The rock show managers are determined to do what it takes to hold this year's show in Memory of Karen A. Brzys, the Agatelady, and it will take some volunteers from the Grand Marais community to come along side, like they always have.

We're still looking for a small business or rock club that may want to take over the logistics and business side of the show if it is to continue beyond 2026. Please contact Bill if you have an interest or want to learn more. Everything is documented, including a transition plan and an itemized to-do list leading to the event.

So it's a go - September 11th and 12th - the Grand Marais Rock and Mineral Show. The paperwork will catch up with the payments that have already been made; vendors that have already signed up will be confirmed by Bill Kuhn, the rock show site leader (231-675-1200), prior to the event.

Karen's new book and all her other books will be available for purchase and distribution once the estate enters probate and the family find the means to get it done. Karen was a one-woman, fierce machine that none of us are equipped to handle at the moment. We will let the rock world know when that option is available and will be contacting YOU to help. They will only be available for a limited time, as this is not a business for us. All pre-paid orders already in Karen's possession will certainly be honored. Thanks for your patience, interest and continued support for the difficult tasks ahead of us.

Hello rock world.
We lost such a great, knowledgeable and driven soul in the passing of Karen Ann Penegor-Bryzs on May 29th. She was known as The Agatelady, and she had recently finished her final rock book that landed on the publisher’s desk just today.
She was also the key coordinator for the Grand Marais Rock and Mineral Show scheduled for the Friday/Saturday after Labor Day, September 11-12. Many of you are interested in attending or may have already rented a booth or want to arrange lodging. We understand there are a lot of questions and concerns regarding whether the show can still proceed as planned.
The venue is secure. The two teams that manage the inside and the outside are on board. However, Karen managed everything else herself, including the website, the forms, the contacts, the paperwork, the banking and the accounting. She had the financial methods in place all in her name to accept the booth reservations.
Currently, everything to do with Karen’s estate is on hold awaiting the probate court’s authorization to take over her affairs. This should take approximately two weeks. At that time, her personal representative will have access to her bank accounts and be able to re-construct the reservations to the deposits/payment. THIS WILL TAKE A LITTLE TIME.
Grand Marais may want to ensure that this rock show still happens for their community. The benefit was clearly documented by Karen in the first few years. However, in order for the show to continue, someone that is highly organized and willing to handle the business side of the event would need to step forward.
When a final determination is made whether this year’s show is still viable, a similar announcement will be made and those that pre-paid will be contacted directly.

We are absolutely devastated to share that our mother and grandmother, Karen Ann Penegor-Brzys, passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2026. Our hearts are broken, and we are still trying to process this immense loss.
We are not ready to share service details just yet, but we will post updates when the time is right. Thank you for respecting our family’s privacy during this difficult time. Your heartfelt condolences and memories are most welcomed in the comments below.

2026 GRAND MARAIS ROCK AND MINERAL SHOW—UPDATE
We have updated the webpage www.grandmaraisrockandmineralshow.com to include information about the September 11-12th show. Returning dealers as well as prospective new dealers can select and pay for their booths on the website. There is also a Dealer Agreement link at both top and bottom of Home Page, and then a link on that page that automatically directs you to the dealer agreement. All dealers must submit a dealer agreement and pay for their booths by AUGUST 15, 2026. We sold out of inside booths last year, so this year we are offering smaller inside booths 10'x10.' Unlike past years, we will no longer remind returning dealers to complete the booth reservation process. Any dealer not completing the process by the deadline will be subject to late fees. Hopefully, see you in September!

The 2026 Grand Marais (MI) Rock and Mineral Show will take place September 11-12th. As usual, this is the Friday and Saturday that immediately follows Labor Day Monday.
