The Tour of Restaurants is off to a great start, and each week between July 25th and October 17th, you have an opportunity to win a $25 gift card to a participating restaurant, just by signing up. Our first weekly winner will receive a gift card Simply Sweet Snoballs. Congratulations to Patricia O’Reilly! Winners can pick up their reward at the St. James Parish Welcome Center.

Like many in St. James Parish, this local goes by a nick name – The Pink Snoball Stand. However, it’s “Government Name” is Simply Sweet Snoballs and Ice Cream, LLC.

From providing first jobs to many local teens to serving as a place to cool off and make lasting memories, this local business has become a cherished part of the St. James Parish community.

For co-owner Paula Roussel, the snoball stand is more than just a business, it's part of her family's story. Paula began working at the stand when she was just 14 years old, back when it was known as Gramercy Snoball. A year later, her parents purchased the business, and she and her brother, Andy, spent their teenage and college years working behind the counter. Although the stand changed hands for a period of time, it eventually returned to the family. Today, Paula and her husband, Todd, own and operate the business alongside Andy and Chantell Brignac.

This nostalgic treat is a staple of the Brignac and Roussel family, as well as the St. James Parish Community. Paula said, “When we first bought the stand back, it was not long after my mom passed. Someone stopped by and bought a cherry snoball, and instantly told us how it brought them right back to their childhood, down to me serving the snoball just like my mom used to. For my brother and I, it’s exactly the same feeling. And of course, as we like to say, it’s the hottest place to get the coolest treat!”
