Saturdays belong to the small businesses. The panaderías, the taquerías, the family-run shops that have been here for generations. I spent twenty years building one of my own before Congress. These are the people I'm in Washington to fight for, every single day. Shoutout to Come and Crepe It in Gonzales for the tremendous hospitality!

Happy 60th Birthday to the man, the myth, the crepe-flipping legend behind Come and Crepe It! 🥳🎉

Today we celebrate our fearless boss, owner, coffee slinger, designer omelette architect, pastry chef, professional crepe flipper, and the only person we know who can turn batter, caffeine, and mild chaos into a whole business. ☕🥞🍳

Sixty years young and still out here flipping crepes like he’s training for the breakfast Olympics. We’re not saying he’s the secret ingredient around here… but we are saying things get suspiciously less delicious when he’s not in the building.

Help us wish him the happiest birthday ever! May your coffee be strong, your crepes be perfect, your omelettes be fancy, and may no one ask you “what’s good here?” for at least one full day. 😂

Our chocolate croissants are here and they understood the assignment — golden, warm, and just the right amount of indulgent.

Thank you to each and every customer who keeps showing up for us! You definitely make a difference. 

Every time someone opens a local business in your town, half the people say “I hope they make it” and the other half say “they’re crazy for trying.”

But here’s what I’ve learned, when people actually show up, these businesses do make it.

The regulars who come in every week. The people who leave Google reviews. The ones who tell their friends. The customers who become ambassadors.

Local businesses don’t fail because people don’t care. They succeed because enough people do.

If you want local businesses in your town, be the person who shows up opening day. Leave the review. Tell your friends. Become a regular.

Supporting local isn’t just shopping local. It’s being an active participant in someone’s dream.

Your town has people willing to take the risk and open businesses.

Make sure they know you’ve got their back.
