Tuck pointing and brick work has been completed after almost 18 months of work including delays. Many of you are aware that it was hit by a tornado a few weeks ago, and due to all the structural work done the building is still a viable opportunity for our community. That being said we are at a cross roads… Despite what we were told was appropriate insurance coverage now we are being told otherwise… Shelter Insurance Company has decided to pay us approximately 30% of the cost to repair the roof, fix the windows, remove and replace ceilings, floors, electrical, insulation etc. (we have roughly $500,000 in damages) There are many holes in their assessment of the damage, and they have even excluded the new work done to the main floor that was set to open weeks ago. The gloves are coming off in this fight and I’m going to be doing more than slipping on brass knuckles. I would urge anyone who currently has a shelter insurance policy to get a competitive quote from a competitor… and switch. Stay tuned.
