O'Rorkes

An Irish immigrant who settled as a child in Rochester, New York. He graduated first in his class at West Point in the Spring of 1861.

Located at 44 Steinwehr Avenue in downtown Gettysburg, established in 2000, O'Rorkes is named after Union commander and hero Patrick Henry O'rorke, the 26 year old Colonel of the 140th New York Infantry. His illustrious military career was cut short in Gettysburg, where he dies on July 2, 1863 on Little Round Top while leading his regiment in battle. The young Colonel left behind his bride of just

a few weeks and many acquaintances who were proud to call him their friend. Our name is meant to appeal to history lovers who pass through our doors, to those who love all things Irish, and to those who want a great meal and a good time. About the Restaurant
A true Irish Restaurant in spirit and decor, O'Rorke's Pub features a wide-ranging menu with traditional Irish favorites, classic American cuisine and special dishes. The dining area is split into two levels. Downstairs there is our country cottage area with a brick fireplace and wide plank floors making you feel as if you stepped back in time. The wooden bar is the centerpiece of the front pub area with cozy booths and a fireplace at the end of the room. Upstairs is suitable for parties up to 40 people for dining but still it retains that comfortable charm that you felt as you walked in.

There’s nothing better than hearing that guests came to O’Rorke’s as visitors and left feeling like family. 💚

Thank you to these two retired Marines for spending part of their Gettysburg trip with us and for sharing such kind words about Austin, Katie, our team, and the food. We’re honored you kept coming back, and we look forward to welcoming you home to O’Rorke’s again!

Came to town on a Thursday 4, June and left the morning of 8 June. My friend and I are retired Marines. From day 1, we did some serious bar/eatery hoping. Each time we wound up at O'Rorke's!!!!! There are plenty of watering holes and places to eat in Gettysburg, God only knows we stepped into quite a few of them. We were treated like family from day 1. Our server's were polite, knowledgeable , and extremely good looking. The food was to die for, the owner Austin came out and conversed with us and made it a point to ask us when we were heading out. He asked us to stop by before we left. He did not let us down. We were once again treated like family. Coming out to say so long and chat with us once again. The one young lady Katie that we met from day 1, said her good buys to us and there was a feeling from my friend and I, that were saying good bye to one of our kids. If you are in the Gettysburg area, ya really need to stop in have a bite to eat and get something good and cold to drink. You won't be disappointed.

True to my word, I told them that I would return following our trip to see our son in Connecticut. Arrived shortly after the place opened on the 5th of July. The place was filling up fast. The food was crazy good!!! If you want to know how attentive the folks working here are, check this out. The night before we left Connecticut I called to see if Austin would be working Saturday? After explaining who I was to the young lady who took my call, she said " I know who you are, you were drinking Quietman" I was amazed. Yes folks, this place is a Family Eatery where they treat and remember you as Family. I bought another T-shirt and asked to take another photo with Katie and Austin. The next time you come to Gettysburg, make sure your first stop is O'Rorke's, you'll be telling your friends about this place as well.
