What a way to kick off a new Germantown tradition! 🇩🇪🍻

This year marked our very first Oktoberfest here at The Florentine- and the first official Oktoberfest celebration for Germantown, Ohio! We were even honored to have Mayor Terry Johnson come out and make it official with a proclamation.

From the stein-holding competition and Das Boot b**r drinking contest, to all the German food, live music, DJ, drinks, and plenty of laughs, we couldn’t have asked for a better first year.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to celebrate with us, and to everyone who helped make the weekend happen behind the scenes. Events like this don’t happen without a lot of people pitching in, and we’re incredibly grateful for all of you.

And the best part? This was only year one.

We’ve already got ideas for making Oktoberfest bigger and better every year, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year. 🍺🥨🇩🇪

📍 LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: The Florentine | Germantown, OH

If you love discovering the history behind local restaurants, you’re going to want to add The Florentine Restaurant to your list. 🤎

Located in the heart of historic downtown Germantown, The Florentine is housed in a building that dates all the way back to 1816. What started as a tavern and stagecoach stop has a pretty incredible history, and you can really feel that history the second you walk through the doors.

We had the opportunity to meet the owner, Bryce Henson, who gave us a little tour and shared some of the history of the building — along with some of the really cool ideas he has planned for The Florentine. There are definitely some exciting things coming, so keep an eye on this place! 👀

And now for the food… 🥨

The Florentine is featuring a special German menu for the next two weeks, including their giant Bavarian pretzel served with b**r cheese and house mustard. 🇩🇪 They’re also hosting an Oktoberfest next week, so there’s plenty of reason to stop by and experience it for yourself.

And if you’re in Germantown this weekend, it also happens to be the Germantown Pretzel Festival — a longtime local tradition celebrating the town’s German heritage with food, vendors, live entertainment, and, of course, LOTS of pretzels. 🥨

There’s so much history and so much happening at The Florentine, and I’m excited to see what Bryce has in store for this historic spot!

Definitely one to add to your Dayton-area local list. 🤎
