There’s only one restaurant listed in the tiny Kentucky town of Germantown.
And it’s sitting along a stretch of Route 10 inside an old restaurant building that was quiet for decades.
Kim’s Southern Table brought the place back to life, but thankfully, they didn’t try to make it look brand new.
Walk inside and you’ll find pieces of the building’s past still there, including the old bar from the restaurant that occupied the space years ago.
Then there’s the food.
This is the kind of small-town place where you can order a hand-pattied burger one day and come back for meatloaf, catfish or chicken the next.
What I’d Order
The meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans has gotten some love, while customers have also singled out the burgers, hand-battered catfish, homemade-style coleslaw and desserts.
But there’s another reason I like this story.
Kim’s has shown up for its community too.
During a local effort to help families struggling with food costs, the restaurant offered free meals with no questions asked to people who came in and requested the “Southern Special.”
That feels pretty fitting for a restaurant in a Kentucky town this small.
An old building got its restaurant back.
And Germantown got another place to gather around a table.
