Nightingale, a TX bistro, is a new restaurant concept near the historic Georgetown Downtown Square, inside and beside Lark & Owl Booksellers, that will feature a menu that focuses on French inspired cuisine using local ingredients and flavors, paired with coffee, wine or cocktails, and enjoyed in a beautiful outdoor garden space. We are seeking experienced line cooks to join our team.
Line cooks are a crucial part of the Nightingale operation and are responsible for food preparation, proper sanitation practices, and knowledge of menu items according to company standards and builds/recipes. Candidates should have at least 1 year experience as a line cook in a high-volume and prep heavy kitchen. Due to the nature of this bistro and the responsibilities that come with it, it is ideal to have open availability.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Set up and stock stations appropriately for service.
Adhere to food preparation and safety practices as dictated by company and state standards and regulations.
Answer, report, and follow KM/AKM instructions.
Clean stations properly.
Minimize food waste and properly report any waste to management.
Store and rotate food products properly.
Stay up to date on menu changes and general information by attending all kitchen/all staff meetings and by checking "Slack" regularly on shift.
Ensure all crossover or closing duties are complete before checking out with the KM/AKM on duty.
Ability to work efficiently during the peaks of service while still maintaining presentation and consistency.
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED:
Communicate with other staff and management effectively with needs, concerns, ideas, ect.
Understand the flow of service from BOH to FOH.
Basic mathematical skills for everyday use (ei. making a recipe bigger or smaller).
Fundamentals of cooking.
Properly operate and maintain kitchen equipment.
Show up on time to your shift ready to work.
Lift at least 50 lbs.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFO:
We are all dishwashers! Small staff, smaller kitchen. Be sure to clean as you go and always keep the dish area organized and manageable.
Adhere to proper portioning and quality control.
Understand that it this is a shared space. The bookstore is a separate operation but ensure to always respect the owners, staff, and guests alike.
Respect the FOH operations. Always make yourself known when walking behind the bar.

Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour
